Back in May (the 8th, to be precise) we planted a veggie garden. By "we" I mean myself, my toddler, the neighbor's toddler, and the 8yr old across the street. I said then that I will be happy if anything at all grows :) So far it's looking pretty good. We have, from left to right, carrots, cucumbers, peas, green beans, and tomatoes. Only one cucumber plant came up, so I'm not holding out for much (any) of a cucumber harvest this year, but everything else is growing really well. When I first planted I started a written journal and I wanted to keep track of how much sun and rain we got and when various things started growing and producing... needless to say that lasted about a week... I'm lazy and have babies, not a good combination for any real productivity!
The temp is in the 90s today and tomorrow, so I think I've gotta water the garden. We are going to try and get the lawn mowed tonight, so maybe I'll get the garden(s?) watered as well. My poor front gardens get rainwater only because(so far) I'm too lazy to pull the hose through the garage and out the front door. The seem to be thriving just fine anyway.

The veggies

Welcome to the gardens
Let me start by saying I am not a gardener. If I were, I'd be outside right now weeding my gardens instead of sitting here writing about them! :) However, when we bout our house last fall we got several well established gardens with it. The right and neighborly thing to do, of course, is to maintain them. Also, in a brief moment of energetic insanity, I planted a little veggie garden...
Baby is awake... more later.
